Our Story
This property sits on five peaceful acres in Northwest Ohio—a place that reflects both our roots and our journey.
Brian grew up right here in Northwest Ohio and attended Bowling Green State University. After graduation, he moved to Florida to continue his education, and his career eventually brought him back home. For the past 30 years, he has worked in the medical field, giving back to the community he grew up in.
Tara grew up in California’s “salad bowl,” surrounded by ocean air and endless lettuce fields. After meeting Brian in California while he was visiting a friend, her path eventually led her to Northwest Ohio, where she began a new life rooted in community and connection. She spent several years teaching second grade in a local school district before stepping away from her career to focus on raising their family. Today, she spends her time running the guesthouse and working at Beehaus Blooms, a locally owned flower and gift shop in downtown Perrysburg.
Our family is happiest outdoors and always on the move. Between us, we’re a combination of runners, cyclists, swimmers, yoga enthusiasts, and soccer players. We love exploring places both near and far, especially when we can take the road less traveled. We’re fortunate to own other properties in Colorado and Baja, each giving us a new appreciation for different landscapes, cultures, and communities. We don’t necessarily have favorite places—we have favorite people. And wherever those people are, that’s our favorite place to be.
The main home on the property was built in 2006. A few years later, we added the red barn, set back from the house to take full advantage of the quiet and beauty of the land. Eventually, a guesthouse was created within the barn as a place to welcome family, gather together, rest, and make memories.
We were especially fortunate to have Brian’s mother call the guesthouse home for two years before her passing. That chapter made the space even more meaningful to us and gave it a history rooted in family, love, and connection.
As our children grew and we entered a new season of life, we became empty nesters. Rather than let the guesthouse sit quietly, we decided to open it to others—to share the same peace, simplicity, and comfort that our family has enjoyed here for years.
And then there’s Santiago.
Santiago is our 10-year-old, pint-sized pup who looks uncannily like his emoji: 🐕. He takes his self-appointed role as Head of Guest Relations very seriously, greeting every new arrival with a thorough sniff and plenty of tail wags. He may bark when you first arrive, but he is incredibly friendly and quickly warms up to new friends. When he’s not making his rounds, you’ll usually find him running the property or sunbathing wherever he can find a patch of sunshine.
